Delta Insurance Group announces leadership changes

Delta Insurance Group has announced a leadership transition for its Group and New Zealand businesses.

Teresa Pollard has been appointed Interim CEO at Delta Insurance Group. Pollard takes the reins from Kent Chaplin, who decided to step down from his role as Group Chief Executive Officer earlier this month to pursue governance and advisory roles. Under Chaplin’s leadership, the Group experienced significant growth and success across the Asia Pacific. The Delta Insurance Group’s Board and shareholders are grateful for Kent’s contributions in building Delta into the award-winning, leading independent MGA Group it is today.

Dinesh Murali, currently Chief Underwriting Officer for Delta Insurance New Zealand, will succeed Andrew Beaton as the country’s new Managing Director and will report to Pollard. Beaton will move into a newly created APAC role as Head of Property for Delta Insurance Group.

“Murali’s appointment was a natural progression for the business and a strong outcome for Delta’s broker partners and customers,” Pollard said.

“Dinesh brings a powerful combination of product expertise, underwriting knowledge, industry profile, and strong broker relationships.” She adds, “Having someone of Dinesh’s calibre step into the role ensures a seamless transition for our broker partners and our team.”

“This is an exciting opportunity, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on the strong foundations we have laid together,” Dinesh Murali said.

Beaton’s move into an APAC Group role reflects the success of Delta’s property portfolio in New Zealand and the opportunity to expand this capability across the wider region. Pollard said Beaton’s expertise in the property sector, both in New Zealand and Australia, made him the ideal person to lead this initiative.

“Andrew has been instrumental in developing Delta’s property portfolio in New Zealand, which now has $7.5b in property protected,” said Pollard. “This new role allows him to leverage that success and help scale our property capability across the wider group.”

As Group Head of Property, Beaton reports to Joleene Dawson, who steps into the role of Chief Underwriting Officer at Delta Insurance Group, from her previous role as the Group’s Head of Underwriting. Pollard adds, “Joleene is well known to many of our broker partners and will continue to lead Delta’s underwriting capability together with group engagement across capacity and partnerships as the business grows.”

The appointments are designed to support a strategic transformation programme that will strengthen how Delta operate, making the underwriting agency even easier to trade with.

Pollard said, “We have a great opportunity ahead to improve our platforms, simplify workflows and enhance the broker experience, which will help Delta scale confidently for the future.”
